Images from my trips to, and through, the national parks. Many times, while I'm travelling to and from job locations, I drive through the National Parks and am able to stop to take photographs. Other times I'll visit for vacations and actually get to immerse myself in the landscapes I'm photographing. Both methods have yielded great images, and those images are displayed in this gallery. Enjoy!

Saplings in a Shaft of Light. Yosemite National Pa
The contrast created by the light piercing the forest canopy above these twin saplings drew me into taking this photograph in Yosemite National Park. I converted the image to black and white to enhance the rimlight effect and simplify the image.
Dead Tree Along the Base of El Capitan. Yosemite N
A study in contrast between the living tree, dead tree, and granite face of Yosemite Valley. I converted this image to black-and-white in Photoshop.
Rainbow Over Yosemite Valley. Yosemite National Pa
A wide angle view overlooking Yosemite Valley. This image was taken during my first, and only, trip to Yoemite National Park. I was extremely lucky to have arrived after a late spring snowstorm, with clearing clouds, beautiful light, and an amazing rainbow created by the spray from the falls.
Young Sequoias in Fog. Sequoia National Park.
Young Sequoias lit by the rising sun as it burns away the fog in Sequoia National Park.

Half Dome and Clearing Storm. Yosemite National Pa
The crowds were huge to photograph the spectacular sight of Half Dome emerging from the storm clouds after a late spring snow. The setting sun created a beautiful scene with good color and saturation.
Bull Elk During the Rut. Rocky Mountain National P
This was the dominant bull elk among his harem during the fall rut in Rocky Mountain National Park. This bull and another were sparring for dominancy shortly before this image was taken. After the fight, this bull elk quickly herded together his harem to keep them from separating and dispersing.
Shafts of Sunlight Through Coastal Fog. Olympic Na
The rising sun casts God's rays through the fog as it moves through the forest along the Pacific coast in Olympic National Park.

Panoramic View From Estes Park. Rocky Mountain Nat
An image of the continental divide which is crossed by Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, CO. I took a series of eight images and stitched them together to create this all-encompassing panoramic view of the park.
Aspens and Rock Forms. Rocky Mountain National Par
This small copse of Aspens was shimmering in the morning light as I travelled into Rocky Mountain National Park from Estes Park, CO. I liked the contrast between the lush forest and barren rock outcrop.
Sparring Elk During the Rut. Rocky Mountain Nation
A sparring match between dominant bull elk in Rocky Mountain National Park. The victor of this fight soon began herding a large group of cows, and eventually wandered within one hundred feet of my position to pose for a portait in the other image in this portfolio.
